Tami Munford was the Harwood’s Latin teacher before she retired in 2015 after 32 years of teaching. She was a dedicated teacher and that dedication hasn’t left. Since retiring she has been quite busy leading trips to Cuba for educators and the Vermont Council on World Affairs, mentoring a student from Burlington College who was studying at the University of Havana, and now teaching Spanish and Latin part-time at The Schoolhouse in South Burlington. One of the biggest hobbies that she has taken up in recent years is writing and illustrating children’s books, including My Home Is in Cuba, My Home Is in Rwanda, and Neb and Dewny’s Dumgrop. However, she said that what she missed most about teaching at Harwood was “sitting around a table and translating Cicero and Virgil with my students as we make puns, tell jokes, laugh and learn.”
