In the era of change, a new class at Harwood Union has arisen to create new artwork for its hallways coming quarter four in the spring.

“Art for Harwood, ”a new class with teacher Krista Verriotto, has a plan to replace the old artwork with new, more modern, pieces created by students who signed up for the class.

“I think getting new artwork in the hallways would be a good refresher to see each day I walk through the halls,” said Sam Lesser, a senior at Harwood. “ I would still like to see the more symbolic pieces in the hallways and keep some of the old,” he added.

Jordan Lamb, a junior, said “I think it’s a great idea; it’s always good to have change,” she added, “I like the pieces near the gym and auditorium, like the skiers, sailors, the girl with the hand over her face.”

Parent Amy Longe also had some thoughts on the matter.

“All artwork in the school is beautiful and I wouldn’t want to see anything removed,” she said, “Only more added.”

“The old artwork will be saved so it can be put on a rotation,” said Krista Verriotto. “I hope to change out art every few years, so a lot of these will make a reappearance in the future.” She also added that with the class only being a quarter long, she is hoping to get at least one piece of art done for now.

Up to this point, the Harwood community seems rather excited about the new changes to the hallways, despite having an unusual year. As the depressing year of 2020 comes to a close, the positivity leads us to assume that this is going to be a bright and creative way to start 2021.
