Alex Gaudette, Reporter

School is just about over, people always get bored during the summer. Finding something to do is not always the easiest thing to do. So if you have a few days off from your job or just are not doing anything you can try some of these activities.

The best thing to do on a hot day is to swim. There are many places to swim around the area. One that is pretty popular is the Reservoir in Waterbury Center. You have to pay to play but it is always super warm, and they have a nice, little beach with small grills for cookouts. You also can rent paddle boats, kayaks, canoes and paddle boards. Its a great place for a family to go. Another place to swim is the Bolton potholes. It is rite behind the  Smilie Elementary School. The potholes are always cold, but there is nothing wrong with that when you are trying to cool off.

A great spot to go camping is Little River State Park in Waterbury. It has tons of camp sites with lean-tos and tent sites. It has two swimming sections, good fishing, and a few boat launches. This one is also right on the Waterbury Reservoir. You have to pay, but if you were looking to not pay and have a boat, you can go to the places on the reservoir that are homemade campground located all around the reservoir.

If you are super bored, you can go hiking. There are plenty of places to go hiking around the area. Some of the more easy hikes are Sterling Pond, which has a good view at the top of Mount Mansfield. There is Hunger Mountain, which is a little long, but is not a hard hike. A more difficult hike would be Camels Hump, which has great views. All of the trails opened on Memorial Day weekend. Hiking is a great way to get rid of your boredom over the summer.

If you are looking for things try some of these activities, maybe try all three of them in one day! Waterbury has plenty of things to do! These can be fun with friends or family, so don’t let yourself be bored this summer!
